Unlocking Creativity: Virtual Reality as a Tool for Industrial Design
Since the resurgence of virtual reality in 2018, I recognized its potential as a revolutionary tool for design. While Volvo Cars and Ford were among the early adopters, the applications at the time were rudimentary, particularly for industrial design. Despite initial skepticism, I convinced my directors to invest in a VR system, sensing its immense possibilities.
Transitioning from traditional design tools like sketching and 3D modeling, which offer only 2D representations, VR emerged as a game-changer. It authentically recreates the physical world, enabling rapid testing, iteration, and holistic solutions. In VR, ideas transcend mere digital concepts, instantly manifesting in tangible 3D form. This not only accelerates the design process but also enhances the quality of ideas, allowing for effortless exploration of numerous designs.
Since embracing VR, all my projects have been conceived and executed within its immersive realm. While I still utilize CAD and sketches to complement workflows, VR remains the cornerstone of my creative process—a disruptive force driving innovation. As an ambassador and pioneer of VR technology within my company, I conduct presentations and offer classes both internally and externally, sharing the transformative potential of this groundbreaking tool.
